Is there a comment counter available?
A lot of people ask if there is a comment counter available to display with the link to the comments on the blog page.
The answer is simple: no
Will there ever be a comment counter?
If someone is willing to make it and share it with the world, I'm more than happy to put it up for download. I won't make any. I've got a few reasons for this:
- Installation would be more complicated. Given the amount of people having trouble already to install (and simpler than this is almost impossible), I'm not gearing towards adding anything that makes it more difficult.
- It increases the load time of your blog page. Any counter just does, hosted on your own machine or not.
- Why a comment counter? You've got a readout page already.
But I really, really, really want a comment counter with my ASP commenting system.
